Jun Takahashi

Jun Takahashi (高橋 盾 Takahashi Jun, born September 21, 1969, in Kiryū, Gunma) is a Japanese fashion designer for Undercover. He is considered one of streetwear's founding fathers. He is influenced by Punk, ripped T-shirts and patched leather jackets.

Personal life

He has a son and is married to Morishita Riko, with whom he worked for the Uniqlo collaboration. As a young man was the vocal lead for the cover band "Tokyo Sex Pistols" where his role model was Vivienne Westwood.

He attended Gunma Kiryu Nishi High School. In 1988 he enrolled in Fashion Education at Bunka Fashion College Design department- where he got his nickname Jonio. In 1993 he launched Undercover with another student, Ichinose Kobo. In 1993 he Launched NOWHERE, a retail venture in Harajuku with friend Nigo of BAPE. In 1994-1995 he participated in Tokyo collection/Fashion Week. In 1995 NOWHERE LIMITED (company store) opened in Harajuku. In 2002/2003 he participated in his first Paris collection/Fashion Week.
