Kota Srinivas Vyas was an Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS officer of the 1974 batch.
Personal life
In 1976 Vyas married Aruna, an author, literary speaker and translator of books by Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam from Sanskrit to Telugu.
Career
Vyas was the first superintendent of police for the Vijayawada urban district, which was formed in 1983. In 1986, he founded the elite Greyhounds police unit, which was intended to counter Maoist extremism. He became joint director of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA).
Death
He was allegedly killed at gun point by the naxalites of PWG on 27 January 1993 while jogging at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.[1]
A police complex has been named after Vyas in Vijayawada and an annual memorial lecture is given at the APPA.
