K. Surendran is an Indian politician in the Indian state of Kerala. He served as Kerala State General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).[1][2]

Early life

Surendran was born in Ulliyeri, Kozhikode on March 10, 1970 as the youngest son of Kunhiraman and Kalyani. He is a graduate in chemistry from Sri Guruvayurappan College in Kozhikode. Surendran is married to Seeba and they have two children named Harikrishna and Gayathri Devi.[1][2]

Career

Surendran started his political life during his school days. He led agitations in Kerala opposing UDF as well as LDF governments.[3]

The protests he led against corruption in the corresponding governments include Kovalam Palace protection,[4] corruption in Kerala University assistant grade appointments,[5] Total 4 You,[6] Malabar Cement,[7] 2013 Kerala solar panel scam,[8] and PSC appointment. The authorities responded violently with lathi-charges and other abuse.[9] He made public many contemporary political issues in Kerala, which earned him respect from his political opponents.[10][11] He twice sought the Kasargod Parliament constituency and once an Manjeshwar Assembly seat.[2]
