History

The station began as WOW-FM, sister station to WOW (now KXSP), broadcasting beautiful music. After becoming a Top 40 station for a short time in the early 1970s under the call letters KFMX, it reverted to beautiful music and, in 1973, changed the call letters to KEZO. The station became Z-92 in 1978.[2]

Journal Communications and The E.W. Scripps Company announced on July 30, 2014 that the two companies would merge to create a new broadcast company under the E.W. Scripps Company name that will own the two companies' broadcast properties, including KEZO-FM. The transaction is slated to be completed in 2015, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.[3]
