Programming

KHQN broadcasts a Spanish Variety format.

History

In the early 1980s, the station carried a Mainstream Rock format. In 1984, the station became one of the only stations in the United States broadcasting Hare Krishna programming full time. To help in the building of the Spanish Fork Krishna Temple, Sace Broadcasting, decided to lease the station to David C Kifuri a Seasoned Spanish Broadcaster who had recently moved from South Texas, and on December 7, 1999, KHQN became the first RADIO UNICA Affiliate for the State of Utah, broadcasting a Spanish Talk, News, Sports, Music Variety format, which for the first time started scoring high listener ratings for the station. RADIO UNICA expanded their programming to newly created KBJA 1640 out of West Valley, Utah, dropping KHQN as KBJA offered improved and duplicate coverage. The station changed to a news/talk format in 2006, with ratings declining, KHQN was purchased by UNICA BROADCASTING COMPANY, LLC., and on January 1, 2014, went back to the Spanish Variety format, as RADIO UNICA 1480.
