The Kalø Vintage Car Rally is a weekly gathering of vintage car enthusiasts at Kalø Castle Ruin, in Denmark. Every non-winter Tuesday since 2002, up to 600 vintage cars travel to Kalø, according to founder Bent Ammitsbøl. The Rally is free for owners and participants. Events are self-regulated, with no staff or officials. The rallies are held on a grassy slope bordering the sea at the Bight of Aarhus overlooking Kalø Castle Ruin 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the town of Rønde and 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Denmark's second largest town, Aarhus. The primary focus is on vintage cars, but old motorcycles and mopeds also participate as do other styles of cars.

History

The rallies started in 2002 at the parking lot by the Kalø Ice Kiosk in 2002, followed by an evening drive through the Hills of Mols, (Mols Bjerge). The size of the rallies forced the end of the joint drive.

Engines

Other vintage car - and special engine events in this region, the peninsula of Djursland include: The Danish Engine and Machine Collection and the Dansk Motor- og Maskinsamling with Scandinavia's largest collection of stationary engines. The Agricultural Museum, Landbrugsmuseet, is based at the castle, Gl. Estrup, with a collection of vintage tractors and farm implements. At The Danish Farm Fair, Dansk Landbrugsmesse numerous tractors and old machines are exhibited in early summer. The annual festival, Mosten Race day focuses on custom racing motorbikes for the quarter mile events.
