Kalluru or Kallur is a mandal in the Khammam district of Telangana, India. It is located at between Khammam and Sathupalli.[1] Kalluru is connected by national highway and it is 50 kilometers from Khammam.

Population

Kalluru Mandal has a population of 63,336 while Kalluru town which is the headquarters has a population of 15259 (2001 Census) which has increased upto 15807 (2011 census).[2] [3]

Literacy

Kalluru Mandal has a literacy rate of 41% while the headquarters has a literacy rate of 72(2008 Census)[4]

There are a lot of transport facilities from various cities of Telangana. located between Khammam and Sattupalli number of vehicles pass through this way to reach Rajamundry, Vizag. There are buses of shuttle service to Madhira from this town. NSP cross roads serves as a checkpost between the states ANDHRA PRADESH and TELANGANA.

Kalluru has a famous temple of Lord shiva known as Srikashmira Mahadevakshetram and also has "Sri Santhana Venugopala Swamy Temple".

The Lord Venu Gopala Swamy temple. Kallur, located at the centre of the Khammam District, is renowned for its 400 year old history. The Lord Venu Gopala Swamy temple, constructed by Queen Rudrama Devi, is one of the major Hindu pilgrimage sites of the region. This region was once the taluka headquarters of the Qutub Shahis. The ancient Shiva temple at this site was built by Prathapa Rudra, a Kakatiya king. Five Shivalingas are situated in the inner sanctum of this temple. Before worshipping the god, devotees take a bath at the tank situated within the temple premises.
