Kalyan Chaubey (born 16 December 1976) or Kalyan Chaubey is an Indian footballer of Kolkata,West Bengal Kanaujia Aryan Brahmin descent who plays as a goalkeeper. Twice Indian Goalkeeper of the year in 1997-98 and 2001-02. Kalyan Chaubey has an younger sister named Bulbuli Panja. Bulibuli is a professional television actor for Bengali TV Serials and a Football Anchor. Kalyan Chaubey is married in 2004 and blessed with a daughter.
Kalyan Chaubey is a graduate from TATA Football Academy of second batch (1989-1995) and became a professional football player through a proper grass-root system. He has represented for Indian National Team for U-17 Asian Youth Championship held at Tehran Iran 1994, U-20 Asian Youth Championship held at Suwon/Seol South Korea in 1996, Pre-Olympic Qualification 1999-00 and in Senior Indian National Team 1999-2006. His International footballing honours include winning SAFF Championship three times. Kalyan Chaubey has represented National Championship (Santosh Trophy) for five different state for Jharkhand, Bengal, Goa, Punjab and Maharashtra. Kalyan had a short loan spell at Bangladesh Muktiyodha, Dhaka, there he represented Federation Cup. He also has a playing experience in Karlshruhe Sports Club Germany in 2002, he could not sign a contract due to work permit VISA in 2002. He has played for Mohun Bagan AC, East Bengal FC, Salgaocar SC, Mahindra United, JCT Phagwara, Mumbai FC as a Goalkeeper in I-League during 1996-1997 to 2009-2010 he was five time runner up in I-league/National Football League in his 15 years Professional Football Career.
After his retirement as footballer he has walked the ramp in Lakme Kolkata Fashion Show in 2012 as show stopper celebrity model. As an administrator He has worked as CEO of Mohun Baagan Academy 2010-2013. Technical Director – Bajaj Allianz Youth Talent Hunt-2011-12 / 12-13. Kalyan Chaubey was involved at identifying upcoming and promising talent in Football. Those selected would get an opportunity to train at the Bayern Munich Academy in Germany.He was instrumental in developing the programme for the selection and training process for over 70,000 kids in the Under 15 age group across 37 cities in India. Kalyan Chaubey was also- Co-ordinator for GOALZ Project- 2012 . Kolkata Police and British Council developed the GOALZ project for the underprivileged children belonging to disturbed families and criminal backgrounds. Certain areas were identified by Kolkata Police, where this project was initiated. Kalyan played his part in bringing together the-connect with the game and to provide for a better future for these young minds. In January 2015 Shri Arun Jaitley, Honourable Minister of Finance, Government of India inducted Kalyan Chaubey in Bhartiya Janta Party. Kalyan has played an instrumental role for the Youth Development in Bengal through football. Kalyan Chaubey has translated Satcharitra a book on life of Shirdi Shri Sai Baba. He has written this book from English to Bengali in 2006. Kalyan Chaubey is currently a professional Football commentator- Analyst for Star Sports Network since 2014.
