Kapila Waidyaratne is the Senior Additional Solicitor General of Sri Lanka.[1]

Waidyaratne was educated at S. Thomas' College, Mt Lavinia Sri Lanka.[2]

Waidyaratne represented the school in 1st XV Rugby (scoring the match winning try against Trinity College in the Canon RS de Saram Trophy encounter in 1975),[3] Hockey and Cricket.

Waidyaratne later graduated from the University of Colombo (Batchelor of Science Economics) and the Sri Lanka Law College. He was awarded a master's degree in International Relations University of Colombo and is a solicitor in the United Kingdom.[4]

Waidyaratne was appointed a Presidents Counsel in 2014.[5]

Waidyaratne has served in Fiji as a judge of the Court of Appeal and also served as a Trial Attorney at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from 1998 until 2003. .[6]
