Kara Davud Pasha

Kara Davud Pasha or Davud Pasha (1was the Kapudan Pasha from 1618 to 1620 and became the grand vizier of the Ottoman Empire in 1622, because of his marriage with the daughter of Halime Sultan and Mehmed III, Dilruba Sultan.[1]

He was born in Bosnia Eyalet

Then, while he was the Second Minister he was married to Dilruba Sultan (1594-1687) in 1617, the daughter of Mehmed III and Halime Sultan and the sister of the reigning Sultan, Ahmed I. The couple was given a Palace next to the old Hippodrome and had several children.

This marriage promoted his career, as much as her became a powerful Pasha within the Ottoman Court, he also had a considerable fortune.

But, it was with the reign of Mustafa I , when he gained an absolute power as a Grand Vizier. This was due in a large mesure to the fact that he was supported by Mustafa's mother, Halime Sultan, an Abkhaz women who was the first women to be a regent for her son in the Ottoman History because of Mustafa I's mental problems.

His mother managed the government along with Davud Pasha. He was responsible of the death of Osman II. He was famous for his wealth and had a mosque built in his honor. He died in 1622
