Karl-Heinz Lambertz (born 4 June 1952) is a Belgian politician holding a Master's degree in Law with an additional specialization in German Law. He was the Minister-President of the Government of the German-speaking Community of Belgium for 15 years and became President of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community in 2014. He is noted for voicing an outspoken demand for his community, numbering about 70,000 around Eupen. He has been a member of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) of the European Union since 1999, where he was President of the PES Group for 5 years, becoming First Vice-President of the institution in 2015. Within the CoR he is particularly active in the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC) and the Commission for Environment, Climate Change and Energy (ENVE).
He is also very active in the Congress of the Council of Europe and where he is President of the Socialist Group.
On 17 July 2008, he was one of three senior Belgian politicians commissioned by King Albert II to investigate ways of enabling constitutional reform talks in the light of the long-running Belgian constitutional crisis.[1]
