Kaweah Indian Nation

The Kaweah Indian Nation, Inc., is a civic group interested in Native American interests. They applied for status as a federally recognized Native American tribe in the USA in the 1980s, a petition which was denied.[1][2]

Recently, scam artists have sold purported citizenships in the non-recognized tribe, particularly to Mexican nationals who have entered the US illegally.[3] Only one tribe, the Kickapoo, actually has dual citizenship with the USA and Mexico.
