Tamori (タモリ) is a Japanese celebrity. His real name is Kazuyoshi Morita (森田 一義 Morita Kazuyoshi) and the stage name Tamori is an anagram of his surname. He was born on 22 August 1945 in Fukuoka City in Fukuoka Prefecture.

Along with Takeshi Kitano (Beat Takeshi) and Sanma Akashiya, he is one of the big three[1] television comedians in Japan.

His most famous TV programme was called Waratte Iitomo! ("It's OK to laugh!"), which was a nationally-televised live show that was broadcast every weekday at noon from October 1982 until March 2014.

He is never seen without his trademark sunglasses. He has worn them even in period pieces (Jidaigeki), despite the story taking place in a past historical setting. On some of these occasions, he has opted for an eyepatch.

His likeness is the basis for the Piranha Plant in All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros.
