Kele Kele Love
"Kele Kele Love" is a song by Nigerian R&B recording artist Tiwa Savage, released as the first single from her debut studio album Once Upon a Time (2013). Upon its release, the song was met with positive reviews.[1]
Background
In an interview with Showtime Celebrity, Tiwa said that she had doubts about the song's longevity.[2] In the same interview, she spoke about the song's composition, saying: "I think issues are universal. Even though Kele Kele is Nigerian, it’s something that anyone can easily know because it’s universal." Furthermore, Tiwa said that "Kele Kele Love" is a mixture of her experiences as well as the experiences of others.[2] In the aforementioned interview, Tiwa also said that the expectations she got from her first release was greater than expected.[2]
Music video
The music video for the single was shot and directed in Los Angeles by Jerry Chan. It was co-directed by Tiwa and Tee Billz.[3] The music video was uploaded to Tiwa Savage's Vevo account on April 6, 2011, and to her YouTube account on July 28, 2011.
Accolades
"Kele Kele Love" won the Best R&B Soul Song award at the 2011 Afrotainment Museke Online Music Awards.[4] The music video for "Kele Kele Love" was nominated for Most Gifted Female Video at the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards.[5] Moreover, the music video was also nominated for Best Use of Choreography at the 2011 Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).[6] The song earned Tiwa Savage a Next Rated nomination at The Headies 2011.[7]

"Kele Kele Love" was remixed by The Busy Twist, a production duo from London that describes their music as "African influenced bass music". The duo's version of "Kele Kele Love" is a mixture of Afropop and funk.[8] Dj Sean,[9] Sym 19,[10] Shimzie,[11] Dowty Ebi,[12] and N6 (a radio personality for CoolFm), released their own rendition of the song.[13] "Kele Kele Love" was also remixed over a house instrumental.[14]
