Kelly Oxford (born 1977) is a Canadian author, screenwriter, social media blogger and microblogger. Oxford initially gained recognition through her Twitter feed. She was named one of Time magazine's top 140 Twitter feeds of 2011[1] and 2012.[2]
Career
In 1996, Oxford dropped out of Mount Royal University after one semester.[3] She started "blogging" as a means of daily productivity and self-publishing. She later worked as a waitress and at a shoe store.[3]
In 2001, she became a full time stay-at-home mother and began focusing on her online writing, and script writing. Oxford started an anonymous blog in 2002.[3] Oxford joined Twitter after it launched, and gained a large following.[4] She attracted the attention of celebrities including Diablo Cody and Roger Ebert and was eventually contacted by a number of agents.[4] She later sold a television script to CBS that was to be executive produced by Jessica Alba based on her life as a mother in Calgary.[4] She then wrote another pilot that was bought by NBC, but it was also never produced.[4] She moved to Los Angeles in 2012.[4]
In 2013, Oxford published a semi-autobiographical book, Everything Is Perfect When You're a Liar,[5] which became a New York Times bestseller.[6]
