Kendall Yount (born July 9, 1998) is an American taekwondo athlete.[2] She began training taekwondo at the age of 4, looking for a place in the American Olympic team for 2016.[3] Yount qualified for the first junior national team when she was 12 years old.[4] She has participated in six national teams for the United States.
Yount was selected as the flag bearer in the opening ceremony before earning Olympic gold at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, as the only taekwondo representative for the United States. [5]
She also represented the US at the Pan American Games in 2012, winning a gold medal for her country.
Yount received a gold medal at the Costa Rica Open (2012) in the senior division (18–32 years of age).[6] At 13, she won gold at the 2012 National Championships, in the world class senior light weight division.[7] Yount qualified for the senior team trials of the United States by winning bronze at the Senior Nationals in 2014.[8]
Except for her accolades with the American national team, she is a two time world champion according to the American Taekwondo Association, an American martial arts association.
