Kendra Scott is an American accessories designer. She is the chief executive officer of Kendra Scott Design.[1]
Career
Early career
Scott moved to Austin at the age 19 and started her first company in a mall, a small hat store called Hat Box. Scott designed hats for people undergoing chemotherapy, to be "comfortable but stylish".[1]
Kendra Scott Design
In 2002, Scott started Kendra Scott Design, Inc. She created and sold jewelry to local stores. Kendra Scott Jewelry is now available in over 800 stores internationally. The corporate headquarters are located in Austin, Texas.[1][2][3]
In 2012, Kendra Scott Design was named the number one Fastest Growing Company in Austin in the under $10 million category by the Austin Business Journal.[4] She now is very popular among this generation.
Philanthropy
Scott sits on the board of LifeWorks and in 2012 held a benefit for Lauren Scruggs.[1][5]
Kendra Scott Design works with nonprofit organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, Blessings in a Backpack, and Dress for Success.[6][7]
Public relations
Scott is co-host of CNBC Prime's competition reality show Crowd Rules with Pat Kiernan.[8] She has appeared on The Rachael Ray Show.[9]
Awards and recognition
In 2010 Scott was named the most influential woman in Central Texas by the Austin Business Journal.[10] She was listed as a "Fashion Influencer" in the Pantone Fashion Color Report in 2013 and 2014.[11][12] Scott won an Austin Under 40 Award in the Business & Entrepreneurship category and was named the Austinite of the Year at the 2013 Austin Under 40 Awards.[13] She was given the Lady Bird Johnson Humanitarian of the Year Award at Luminaria 2013.[14]
Personal life
Scott was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin.[1] She never completed college.[1][2] Scott lives and works in Austin, Texas with her three sons.[1][10]
