Kent Fine Art

Kent Fine Art is an art gallery in New York City founded in 1985 by Douglas Walla.[1]

About

Prior to opening Kent, Mr. Walla was vice-president at Marlborough Gallery, where he mounted exhibitions and coordinated affairs for Francis Bacon, Larry Rivers, Alex Katz, Red Grooms, and the estates of Jacques Lipchitz and Barbara Hepworth.[2]

Kent Fine Art opened in 1985 at its first location on the corner of Madison Avenue and 57th Street, in the Fuller Building. Today, the gallery is located at 210 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea.[3]

Kent Fine Art represents artists whose typically cerebral work deals with issues of political and social significance.[4] Along with representing Contemporary artists such as Dennis Adams, Llyn Foulkes, Paul Laffoley, Antoni Muntadas, Irving Petlin, and Dorothea Tanning, the original Kent Fine Art presented a number of historical shows, including exhibitions of the work of Medardo Rosso, Henry Moore, Francis Picabia, and John Heartfield. Kent has published over 40 scholarly books and organized more than 200 exhibitions worldwide.[5]
