Keshav Puram
Keshav Puram, also known as Lawrence Road, is a leafy suburb in the North West district of Delhi, India.[1] It was first developed by the Delhi Development Authority.it is located near Trinagar in Delhi. This area has lots of parks in this area and the density of persons in the area is low. This area has very low pollution levels.There is keshav puram welfare association which has done many works
Demographics
The neighborhood is home to people from all income groups, but a majority of them belong to the business class.It cover the distance from model town to west pitam pura.
Administration and Politics
Keshav Puram is in the constituency represented by MLC Mr Rajesh Gupta of the Aam Aadami Party The area falls under the Wazirpur jurisdiction (No.17) of Delhi. Keshav Puram falls under the Chandni Chowk Constituency, presently represented in the Lok Sabha by Dr. Harsh vardhan,BJP. It is a ward of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.[2] The constituent blocks of Keshav Puram are all represented by Resident Welfare Associations.
After the delimitation of assembly constituencies, Keshav Puram now falls under the Wazirpur assembly constituency. In the 2008 election, Congress candidate Hari Shankar Gupta defeated BJP's Mange Ram Garg. Ex-MLA Anil Bhardwaj of Congress, who happens to be a resident of Keshav Puram, represents the Tri Nagar assembly constituency, and defeated BJP's Dr. Nand Kishore Garg on two consecutive occasions.
Transport
The Keshav Puram Metro station lies on the Red Line and was opened in 2004.[3] Feeder bus services operate from other Metro stations, such as Netaji Subhash Place[4]
Underpass linking the Ring Road & Keshav Puram is now functional. The area is connected to the Ring Road also through the Wazirpur Depot (known as Netaji Subhash Place). Sarai Rohilla and shakurbasti are the two nearestest railway station to Keshav Puram.

Industry
Industry in Keshav Puram includes meat warehousing,[8] and plastics[9] and fibre-glass production.[10] Keshav Puram is also well known for housing the biggest name in the Indian baking industry - Britannia Industries. It was previously also the site for Kwality (The ice-cream group) and Modern Bakery. The area has many cold storage facilities.
Sports and recreation
The Keshav Puram Cricket Club plays in the President’s Estate Friendship Challenge League.[11] Healthways has a swimming pool and a fitness centre. Keshav Puram has many parks, including the Mazdoor Park (also referred as Hathoda Ram Park for a statue depicting a laborer wielding a large hathoda i.e. hammer). There is also a fitness center in one of the parks near Keshav Puram Subzi Mandi. The Dhyan Chand sports complex houses facilities for many sports, such as swimming and tennis, and is located in neighboring Ashok Vihar.
Notable Residents
- S.P. Manchanda - A social activist who has been honored by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi. He is the president of Elderly People's Forum, an organisation of senior citizens for the care and welfare of elderly people. He is also president of Prakash India, a voluntary consumer organisation with aim to curb corruption in the country.
- Sushil Sharma - A famous social activist and RSS member, living in A-2 block since 31 years.
- Indumati Kaushik- A famous poetess of international renown, who lived in Keshav Puram for most of her life. She wrote a book titled 'Asweekar' - Hindi Khand Kavya, which won her many awards. She was also well known for her Hindi poems and ghazals. She was also a social activist, and was involved in local politics, pressing hard for the development of the neighborhood. She died on July 20, 2008, after prolonged illness. Her book 'Abhinav Aarambh - Neelkanth' (Mahakavya) will be released posthumously.
- Sahib Singh Verma- Elected to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in 1977 and went on to first become the Chief Minister of Delhi, and later a union minister in the Government of India. He died in a car accident in 2008.
- D D Sethi- An expert of international repute on Social Security. He was the Insurance Commissioner at ESIC, the major social security organisation of India. He retired to Keshav Puram 1982. He was known for his genius, dynamism and magnetic personality . He died in 2000. His son, Naresh Sethi, an Executive Director in a premier P S U of India, continues to live in Keshav Puram.
Public Services
Keshav Puram has elederly recreation centre, namely Varishth Nagrik Manoranjan Kendra at C4 block. Keshav Puram has a local police station, which also serves the neighboring areas in northwest Delhi.[12] There is a hospital under construction.[13] Keshav Puram has two commercial zones, namely the Aggarwal Modern Bazaar and R G. The area also has two petrol stations.
Culture
There are multiple movie theaters in and around Keshav Puram. These are at Shakurpur (Samrat Cinema), Anand Parbat (Liberty), Azadpur (Alpna), Shadipur (Satyam), Karampura (Milan), Fun Cinemas (Netaji Subash Place) and Moti Nagar (Natraj), all within a radius of 5 km, screening mostly Hindi films. Many cultural events are held regularly at Keshav Puram, including the Ram Leela. The life of Lord Rama is enacted on a podium, and organised on a large scale, with 4,000 to 5,000 daily viewers. Many other programs are held in the locality, such as the Khatu Shyam Sandhya and several Haryanvi cultural presentations. The Hasya Kavi Sammelan, which takes places on the occasion of Agrasen Jayanti, is also a regular feature. In addition to this, cultural programs are organised annually during the festivals of Janamashtmi and Holi.
