Kevin Capers (born May 2, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA Development League. He played college basketball for Florida Southern.

High school career

Capers attended Lake Wales High School where he helped the Highlanders go 31-3, win district and regional titles, and finish as the 2011 5A state runner-up to Dwyer High School. He scored a team-high 17 points in the state championship game, and averaged 8.9 overall for the Highlanders in addition to 7.0 assists per game from his point guard position.[1]

College career

Capers was a four-year lettermen for Florida Southern and was a key member of the school's 2015 Division II National Championship team. As a senior, Capers earned First-Team All-America honors from five different organizations, led the Sunshine State Conference and was 18th nationally in scoring at 21.2 points per game and ended his collegiate career scoring in double figures in 24 consecutive games and 35 times in 37 games last season. He also averaged 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game and shot 46 percent from the field, 35 percent from the 3-point line and 78 percent from the free throw line.[1][2]

Professional career

On October 31, 2015, Capers was selected in the third round of the 2015 NBA Development League Draft by the Westchester Knicks.[2][3]

Personal life

The son of Jerome and Gaynell Capers, he has one older brother, Marcus, who played at Washington State University.[1]
