Kevin Weaver is the President of Film & Television for Atlantic Records Group, as well as the Executive Vice President of Atlantic Records Group. Weaver has worked in the music industry for 20 years. Weaver's job duties include managing the incorporation of Atlantic Records music with film, television, and video games, as well as coordinating the distribution of soundtracks. For five years, Weaver has operated a co-venture between his present company and Warner/Chappell Music to publish music.[1][2]
Kevin Weaver joined Atlantic Records in 1994, and helped direct soundtrack projects from 1995 to 1998 under the Lava label. He continued working in the same area, as an executive at Tommy Boy Music from 1998 to 2000, whereupon he transferred back to Lava. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Atlantic Records in 2006, and three years later he was named Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Records Group.[3]
Most recently, Weaver produced the Furious 7: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Album, which peaked at #1 on the US Billboard 200 Chart and also hit #1 on iTunes in over 65 territories.[4] The Furious 7 soundtrack includes the single “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa (Feat. Charlie Puth), which Weaver provided A&R services for. The single has garnered over 500 million streams and has sold over 5 million singles worldwide.[5][6] Kevin Weaver recently finished working on the soundtrack for the film adaptation of John Green’s Paper Towns, based on Green’s novel.[7]
Weaver is also credited with the soundtracks for HBO's Boardwalk Empire and HBO's True Blood. His work on Boardwalk Empire won him the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. Weaver also facilitated several single tie-ins placed in movies.[8]
He arranged a deal to have Coldplay appear on an NBC concert special.[9]
