Khachatur Sukiasyan (Armenian: Խաչատուր Սուքիասյան),[1] also known as Grzo (Գռզո), is a political and economic figure. He was three times elected Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia, non-Party. He is one of the co-founders of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen,[2] member of the Board of Trustees of the Yerevan Engineering University. Khachatur Sukiasyan is the Founder of SIL Group.[3]

Biography

Khachatur Sukiasyan was born in 1961 in Yerevan. He graduated from the Yerevan Engineering University in 1985, the Faculty of Informatics, with a qualification of hardware engineer. In course of study years he ran students’ construction squad and was simultaneously employed as a part-time locksmith in Sirius Factory, the leading factory of military-industrial complex of Armenia.

The controlling share package of ARMECONOMBANK OJSC belongs to the Sukiasyan family. The bank is esteemed as one of the leading banks of Armenia, the shareholder of which is the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (25 + 1percentage). Khachatur Sukiasyan is also the founder of inLOBBY GmbH, a company which runs inLOBBY online hotel booking platform.[4]

Political Activity

In all three cases these districts embraced the centre of Yerevan.

Khachatur Sukiasyan was a member of NA Standing Committee [5] on Financial-Credit/Fiscal, Budgetary and Economic Affairs, and also participated in works of NA (National Assembly) Standing Committee on European Integration.[6] In course of his parliamentary activity Khachatur Sukiasyan participated in the discussion and development of many economic laws and constituted about 600 legal offers. Legal initiatives and offers, which were put forth by him, were aimed at the development of entrepreneurship, free economic competitive relationships, and simplification of the tax system in the country. Legal initiatives: «About tax on income», «About tax on revenue», «On banks and banking», «On realization of trade place», «On simplified tax» etc.[7]
