Khalifa Sat

Khalifa Sat is an remote sensing Earth observation satellite currently being developed by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC). When launched Kalifa Sat will be the third UAE satellite to be in orbit. The satellite will be used by United Arab Emirates government in its projects and private sector for various commercially use.[1] The satellite will be capable of capturing industry standard detailed imagery. The satellite is the first to be constructed in the UAE by a 100% Emirati team.[2] According to current plan of MBRSC, the satellite will be launched in 2017 by a Mitsubishi launch vehicle.[3]

Overview

Khalifa Sat will be capable of capturing detailed high-resolution optical images at 0.7 m Panchromatic and 4 m at multi-spectral bands. The satellite features 146 structural and 87 electronic modules. It will also have a 27 GB storage capacity with maximum data transfer speed at 320Mbit/s. Khalifa Sat imagery will be used for urden planning, ship detection and mapping.[4][5][6]
