About Khanduva Khandua is a village panchayat located in the Moradabad district of Uttar-Pradesh state, India. Also known as Khandwa, Khanduva or Khandoua but it is pronounced as (खड़वा or खड़ऊआ). The Village first came to notice in 1995 when people held a Dharna Pradarhan against the Local administration at Tehsil level for the acceptance of their cast (Turaiha) as a scheduled cast. This cast is already listed in SC category in few states of the country. But local administration denied to issue SC certificates for the people of Turiaha cast. The struggle continued for a long time and the people of Khanduva leaded a group of people called Turaiha Samaj for Dharna Pradharshan against District Magistrate in 2002. One more Dharna Pradarshan against state government in 2007 at Lucknow parliament. Turaiha Samaj people also filed a case in Allahabad High court in 2008 that continued for many years and finally UP government issued a Government Order to consider the Turaiha as a SC.
History of Khandua The village was inhabited by ancestors of Turaiha people in late 1700 century. As per old saying Turaiha ancestors were three siblings. And those three inhabited three villages nearby (Sataran, Khandua and Bahadurpur). Other casts also came to the village later in 1800 & 1900 centuries. The village is known for its sacred image as there are 12 temples and one masque in such a small village of 2600 population. The village is also renounced for communal harmony. There are multiple casts in the village like: Turaiha also known as Dheevar, Kahar and Kashyap; Jatav known as Julahe and Kori; Kadhere known as Jaat; Aheer known as Yadav.
