History
The education institution was founded in 1896 by the decision of Kharkiv City Council on the basis of the private art school of Rayevska-Ivanova. Specialized school started its work in a new special room which had built in modern style with an actual influence of the old construction from 1911-1912 built by K. Zhukov. The first principal of the specialized school was Alexandr Liubimov (1979-1955), the student of Ilya Repin. The school's teachers were graduates from Repin Art Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The basis for the organizational work was Rayevska-Ivanova's teaching practice in City Art School and art principes of Russian Art Academy. From 1913 the school was managed by S. Prohorov, who had been the principal of Art School in Tomsk, Russia; from 1914 the school was headed by G. Gorelov; and from 1916 by A. Kokel, who is a famous teacher of art subjects.[1]
