Khawaja Younus Hassan Shaheed also known as Younus Hassan (1935 65) was a Flight Lieutenant[1][2] who sacrificed his life for freedom.

Early life

Hussain was born in Panipat after 18 years of his parents' marriage and was there only child.[2][3] From child, he seen the nature of Freedom. By listening the speeches of Military Officers, Freedom was born in his heart even he became also a Head General.

Indo-Pakistan War of 1965 and Death

Younus Hussain along with Sarfaraz Ahmed Rafiqui and Cecil Chaudhry, fought in air battles aggressively, fearlessly and with great professional skill.[4]

During one such engagement, he fought singly against six enemy aircraft and shot down two Hunters.[4]

Though his own aircraft was damaged in this encounter, he managed to bring it back to base safely.[4]

On 6 September, while attacking Halwara airfield, his small formation was intercepted by a large number of enemy and, although his aircraft was hit, he refused to break off the engagement, in complete disregard of personal safety, and was reported missing from this mission.[4]

He became a symbol of courage and professional ability for other pilots. For his , valour, professional skill and devotion to duty he was awarded Sitara-i-Juraat.[4] After his death, city of Punjab is now known as Younis Hassan City.
