Kick no Oni (which means The demon of kickboxing), is a manga and anime series written by Ikki Kajiwara. It was based on the life of the kickboxer Tadashi Sawamura.[3]

History

Written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Kentaro Nakajiro , the manga was published in 1969 in the magazine "Shonen Gaho "[3] It got an anime version produced between the years 1970 and 1971 by Toei Animation.[1] Ikki Kajiwara is known by other martial arts manga, one of them, Ashita no Joe , illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba and published between 1968 1973 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine.[4]

Plot

The series chronicled the true story of Tadashi Sawamura , a former karate fighter who after a defeat by a kickboxer, decides to learn kickboxing.[1]
