Kilgore Independent School District

Kilgore Independent School District is a public school district based in Kilgore, Texas (USA).

In addition to Kilgore, the district serves rural areas in southern Gregg and northern Rusk counties.

Kilgore is classified by the University Interscholastic League (for academic and athletic competition) as a 4A school, the second largest classification in Texas.

The Kilgore High School football team won the "Class 4A - Division II" State Championship in 2004.

The Kilgore athletic teams are known as the Bulldogs.

Kilgore's high school football team plays their home games at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium. They share the facility with Kilgore College's football team.

The district-wide dropout rate was recorded as 1.6% for 2005-2006.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

Kilgore's band won the UIL Sweepstakes award in the 2011-2012 school year, and scored highly in the Area C marching contest in 2012.
