Kinfra Film and Video Park is India’s first Infotainment Industrial Park.[1] It is also the first SEZ in India for animation and gaming. It is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala State. The Park is a fully owned subsidiary of KINFRA, a statutory body of the Kerala Government.[2] KFVP, formed with an initiative to support the infotainment industry is now a full-fledged infotainment park with international infrastructure facilities. It is located in 75-acre campus in Kazhakuttom, Trivandrum. Out of 75 acres of land 50 acres is landmarked for film industry and the balance 25 acres is notified as SEZ for IT and ITES. The park has natural scenic beauty, which can make it the eventual location of infotainment industry.

A year after the first special economic zone for animation and gaming, came up here, some of the most cutting-edge technologies for the global cinema and TV content industry are being deployed.[3]

Indian film industry revenues are estimated at around $2.2 billion during 2009, and projected to be in the region of $3.4 billion in 2013. ( FICCI report). According to the Nasscom Animation and Gaming Report 2009, the global animation market is expected to grow at 10 percent compounded annual growth to US$100 billion by 2012. The industry in India is expected to grow at 22 percent CAGR to $1 billion by the same year. The global gaming business opportunity is estimated to be worth $53.6 billion, growing at 10.5 percent till 2012. The India business is expected to grow at 49 percent to reach $830 million by 2012. Leading animation companies in India like Accel Animation Studios and Vismayas Max Studio are already operating from Kinfra Film and Video Park(KFVP). Prasad Studios(Prasad Film Laboratories) has a post production centre at KFVP. The Kinfra SEZ was initially notified for IT- Animation & Gaming in 2007 but recently KINFRA has got approval from Government of India for setting up a sector specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) IT & ITES, in a plot of 25 acres of land at KINFRA Film and Video Park.

Out of the 25 acres of land, KINFRA has constructed an Drishya Building , which provides built-up space for export-oriented animation production units and IT and ITES units.KINFRA Film & Video Park has constructed a building with all basic infrastructures and road access for setting up an International Animation School. The largest motion capture facility in the country, set up by Accel Animation Studios, is being harnessed to create state-of-the-art 2-D and 3-D animation products for international clients India’s only animation studio at the KINFRA film and video Park. It has created a niche for itself by setting up a floor on which motion pictures can be easily animated without the need of their being shot in the actual.

Vismayas max studio-The studio was set up in 2002 by the Ace Indian film Actor Padmasree Mohanlal. Vismayasmax is one of the few famous film production houses centering to the South Indian film Industry.

DCSMAT School of Media and Business situated in KINFRA Film and Video Park.[4]

Ernst & Young Global Shared Services (GSS) has set up their third centre in Kerala at the Kinfra Film & Video Park Special Economic Zone.The Kinfra Film and Video Park is strategically located between Technopark and the proposed Technocity project in Trivandrum.[5]

Muthukad's Magic Planet is a venture established to cater for the promotion of magic based industry. It is in the process of establishing a world class hub for science & mirrors. This is the first ever project with 5 D theatre, Mirror Palace etc. and is a world class attraction to Kinfra Film & Video Park. [6]
