King of Nerike
The Norse sagas relate of a number of kings of Nerike who ruled during the mythological past of Scandinavia.
They were:
- Nidud from Völundarkviða.
- Olof the Sharp-sighted (Óláfr inn skyggni) whose granddaughter married Ingjald ill-ruler of the House of Yngling according to the Heimskringla. According to Gautreks saga and Upplendinga Konungum, he aided the Norwegian king Vikar in a war together with Starkad.
- Sporsnjall, a form of Fornsnjallr, (in Heimskringla) who was invited by Ingjald to a banquet only to be burnt to death inside Ingjald's hall with a number of other petty kings. Sporsjall appears as Sporsnäll in later legends from Närke.
