The Kink Kronikles is a US compilation double album of singles, B-sides, album tracks and previously unreleased tracks recorded by The Kinks between 1966 and 1970. In the list of compilation albums, it follows Greatest Hits! which covered material from 1964 to early 1966.
Of the five Billboard charted tracks featured, two make their album debut in this compilation: "Dead End Street" and "Mr. Pleasant".
In 2003, the album was ranked number 232 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It was compiled and released by Reprise Records (without creative input from the Kinks) after the band had moved to RCA Records in 1971.

Notes:
- In his liner notes for the compilation, John Mendelsohn erroneously credits "Holiday in Waikiki" as being the first track of the album Face to Face. This mistake may arise from (at least) one re-release of Face to Face in which side two of the original record is accidentally placed at the beginning of the album, followed by side one. On the original album, "Holiday in Waikiki" is the eighth track; "Party Line" is the first track.
