Knightfall is an upcoming American historical fiction drama television series.

The series recounts the fall, persecution, and and burning at the stake of The Templar Knights, orchestrated by Pope Clement V and King Philip IV of France on Friday, October the 13, 1307. The series will offer a look at why this date, more than several hundred years later haunts us.[1]

On January 6, 2016 History announced it had picked up Knightfall for a 10-episode straight-to-series.[2]

The series is executive produced by Jeremy Renner, who is expected to guest star.[3]

Production

Knightfall was concived by Renner's production partner Don Handfield and L.A based British writer and journalist Richard Rayner. Several writers have been contracted to work on the show, either as episode writers or to develop the storyline further: Jeff Pinkner, (Zoo, The Fringe), André Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Zoo), Josh Appelbaum (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Zoo), and Scott Rosenberg, (Zoo, Con Air). [5] British writer-producer Dominic Minghella creator of Doc Martin, and BBC One's Robin Hood is also attached to Knightfall.

The series will debut in late 2016, and production is expected to start on location in Europe in late spring/summer 2016.[1]
