Konawaruk River

The Konawaruk River is a river in western Guyana. It is a tributary of the Essequibo River, joining it just south of the Potaro River mouth at 5°18′N 58°55′W / 5.300°N 58.917°W / 5.300; -58.917.

Mining, especially for gold, is the primary industry along the river. Pollution from extraction processes, including the use of missile dredges, has had a severe effect on the ecology of the river.
