Koonimedu

Koonimedu is a panchayat village in Tamil Nadu, India. It is part of the Marakkanam block of the Viluppuram district[1] and is located 20 kilometres from Pondicherry and 120 kilometres from Chennai. It has a population of approximately 5000 people, of whom 70% are Hindus, and the remaining 30% predominantly Muslims.

Koonimedu village was one of the oldest village in Villupuram. Initially it was filled up with HINDUS, later on and now there are nearly 30 of non-Hindus living in koonimedu. The other name of koonimedu is chinna Singapore or chinna Kuwait this is because peoples from here are usually goto Kuwait or Singapore to earn. This was followed from since 50 years. the famous temple of THIRUOBATHAI AMMAN koil history of 70 years old
