Koyo Seiko

Koyo Seiko was founded in 1921 by Mr. Ikeda. In the decennia that followed it has become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of bearings and automotive steering systems.

Koyo is the JTEKT brand for Bearings. JTEKT engineering and manufacturing capabilities range from super large bearings with outer diameters of seven meters to miniature bearings with inner diameters as small as one millimeter. Utilizing new materials and the latest in manufacturing technology, JTEKT has developed hybrid

ceramic bearings and a variety of extreme special environment bearings to meet the increasingly severe and demanding requirements of modern industries. JTEKT stands at the forefront, as a technological leader in the world bearing industry.

JTEKT owns and operates eighteen bearings plants in seven countries and 6 R&D Technical Engineering Centers on three continents. Koyo offers innovative solutions to both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket end users focusing on key markets such as automotive, agriculture and construction, heavy industry (steel & wind mill), gear, reducer, electric motor and general machinery.

Koyo brand has established itself with automakers and industrial manufacturers around the world and has attained ISO/TS 16949 certification at all of our bearing manufacturing and sales facilities.

Koyo Seiko (Osaka, Japan) was established as a private company by Zenichiro Ikeda. They initially sold imported bearings but by 1935 had begun production of Koyo branded bearings under the name Koyo Seiko Co., Ltd.

Koyo merged with Toyoda Machinery Jan. 1, 2006, to become JTEKT, a leading manufacturer of ball and roller bearings, automotive steering systems, drive line products and machine tools. Toyota Motor Corp. had been the major investor in each company and is the major stockholder in JTEKT with about 24 percent. Koyo Seiko has various bearing manufacturing facilities all around the world. There are manufacturing sites in Japan, UK, Europe & China.

With the merge of Koyo Seiko Co., Ltd. and Toyoda Machine works, Ltd. on January 1, 2006 JTEKT Corporation came into existence. Nowadays with a Head Office in Osaka, Japan, JTEKT has global operations in Europe, Asia, U.S and Latin America.

With activities focused on four major areas: bearing, steering, driveline and machine tools JTEKT aims at meeting the high expectations of its customers and winning the trust of the society. Highest business standards and a firm technological base combined with the engineering capabilities are JTEKT’s bedrock of growth and innovation.
