Agriculture is the primary means of income of the community. Almost 70% engage in agriculture 30% in non- agricultural works.
History
The school started its educational endeavor in 1933. The first classes were held under the house of Locsin Family who envisioned an agricultural school for the children of their sugar workers. The school improved under the tutorage of two teachers until the outbreak of the Second World War. After the war, the school reopened on the same site. On March 9, 1952, the wife of the late Senator Jose C. Locsin Sr., Salvacion Montelibano Y Locsin decided to donate a portion of land of Hacienda La Purisima Concepcion at Brgy. E Lopez, Silay City with an area of Ten Thousand square meters witnessed by Mrs. Pelopia Valladarez, a school teacher of this institution at that time.
At first, only two Nipa huts accommodated the school children. Later, the school houses were improved with the construction of permanent buildings from 1953-1963. By then, the primary grades were accommodated. The Gabaldon Building first stood in 1953 for the primary graders. As school population increases, another building was built, Ferrer Building in 1960 followed by Locsin building in 1965. Since then, the influx families of the neighboring haciendas gave vigor to the school and rapid progress was made because of population bloom. Several constructions of buildings were done such as five Bagong Lipunan classrooms, a multi-purpose building and a stage. The school is bounded by different species of forest trees, fruit trees and agricultural products for food production. The school is almost through with its proposed projects.
Present Day
At present, due to wear and tear and dilapidation of building, out of eleven buildings only one building is in good condition while the other ten buildings need repair. As the years turn, the hands of time continuous to progress and improve physically and academically. Thus, became part of its history. From now on, Mrs. Jocelyn Dawal[2] is the principal of the school thus she started to be the principal since 2009.
