The Lagunas Norte mine is one of the largest gold mines in Peru and in the world.[1] The mine is located in the north-western part of Peru in La Libertad Region, 140 kilometers from Trujillo.[1] The mine has estimated reserves of 5.8 million oz of gold.[1] Another source claims 8.8 million oz., good for 10 years of active mining.
