Lalit Moorjani (born 24 July 1974) is a recognized financial industry professional, who currently works as Program manager, Vice president at the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, commonly referred to as BNY Mellon.[1] Moorjani has been the recipient of the Bank of New York Mellon STAR Award. Moorjani has managed and implemented multi-million dollar projects, and has “establish[ed], target[ed], and [met] all facets of the project life-cycle, including definition of scope, prioritization, project planning, scheduling, reporting, tracking, testing contingency/ risk planning and implementing projects.”[1]
Moorjani has been a speaker at user groups and conferences at seminars conducted by Focused Intelligence in the Financial Services, also known as FSO Knowledge Xchange.
Moorjani has also rescued a woman from the PATH subway tracks at Jersey City, New Jersey.
Background
Moorjani was born and raised in a multinational business family, with operations in Middle East, Asia, UAE, Africa, Southeast Asia, China, Europe and India.[1] He joined his family's business in 1996 and since then has traveled extensively and worked in many commercial hubs across the continents. His goal was to complement his natural business savvy with a strong foundation in technology, and finance. His father was a seasoned international businessman. Lalit Moorjani's work ethic is described as strong urgency paired with unparalleled stamina.[2]
Education
Moorjani values "Learning and Continuous Self Improvement" as one of his key values and seeks regular feedback from his peers and actively works on improving interactions with stakeholders.[1] Lalit has been educated in Hyderabad, in Sharjah, in Sydney, and at Texas A&M (where he gained a Master's degree in Business Administration). He is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Program Management Professional (PMP).[3][4][5]
Career
Moorjani is a manager in the industry. He has vast international work experience in Sales, Marketing, Management and leadership roles that he has had since 1995. He has completed many assignments internationally, and he continues to lead cross-functional global teams in Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia.[5]
BNY Mellon
Moorjani joined BNY Mellon in 2010 and since then has played a leadership role in various global programs to and compliance and regulatory initiatives.[6][7][8] Moorjani has participated extensively in global platform consolidation initiatives after the Bank of New York merger with Mellon.[9] He contributed to operational efficiencies and savings of millions of dollars, and was awarded with BNY Mellon's highest awards.[10][11][12][13][14]
He was awarded the BNY Mellon Star Award by the CEO Gerald Hassall and BNY Mellon President Karen Peetz.[1]

Moorjani began his work for BNY Mellon in 2010 as Vice president and Program Manager.[11] He has led numerous international programs, implemented more efficient procedures, and streamlining existing processes.[13] Prior to his current position, he held various positions with Capgemini, New York Stock Exchange, Thomson Financial, and Morgan Stanley.[5][12][13]
Morgan Stanley
At Morgan Stanley, Lalit managed a portfolio of approximately $30 million in his role in the North America Project office. Duties included:
[d]riving strategic technological enhancements on behalf of business, operations and IT, managing various Post Trade Technology groups including: Position Services, Customer Tax, Operational Reporting and Exception Management Applications, Securities Lending and Corporate Treasury to resolve business problems and enable smoother operations. He created/streamlined processes for project planning /estimation, tracking, change/risk management and ensured that the proper data quality is maintained in MyProjects and other reporting systems.[1][3]
Thomson Financial
During his tenure at Thomson Financial, Lalit was crucial to planning and execution of innovative strategies on large scale initiatives. He developed a solution for the product master MDM Project that provided quick search, analysis and reporting functionality, reusable business rules, and provided significant savings both resource and monetarily.[1][3]

While working at the New York Stock Exchange, Lalit provided inclusive life-cycle management across a wide array of projects re-engineering initiatives for the Member Firm Regulations.[3] His role in the project management life-cycle covered: support gathering requirements, development to QA, UAT for Web-based and internal applications for the Member Firm Regulations Enforcement, Hybrid Markets, Market Data Systems, and Member Firm Examinations etc.[1]
Cap Gemini
During his time at Cap Gemini, Lalit co-authored the Project management Office Setup and Reference guide and assisted pre-sales teams with client presentations.[3]
Personal life
Moorjani is a community leader and a charitable person. He is a member of the Red Cross’ Red Cross Gallon Club (individuals who have donated blood over a gallon of blood). He and his wife Reena regularly volunteer at community events. Moorjani received guidance and support he received from his family, church, community, and schools when he was growing up.[5]
On April 22, 2013, Lalit saved the life of a woman who fell onto PATH subway tracks in a station in Jersey City, New Jersey, as a train was approaching.[15][16][17][18][19] He was assisted by Stanley Eady,[16][17][19] and both received certificates from the Port Authority in recognition for their "heroism" and "selfless act[s]".[16][19][20][21][22]
