Lamar School, is an independent university-preparatory coeducational day school for young men and women located in Meridian, Mississippi, Mississippi, USA. It is located on a forty-acre site on Lindley Road.

History

Chartered in 1964, Lamar Elementary opened with grades one through six in 1965. Lamar Middle/High School opened in 1970. The school's name pays tribute to the noted Mississippi statesman L.Q.C. Lamar (1825–1893). It was reportedly founded as a whites-only establishment, which led to the denial of its tax exemptions, a decision upheld by the United States Supreme Court in 1971.[1] According to its current policies, the schools states that it does not discriminate based on race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin.[2]

Accreditation
