Laminar organization

This article is about organization of tissues in animal bodies. For botanical use of the term laminar, see Leaf shape.

Laminar organization describes the way certain tissues, such as bone membrane, skin, or brain matter, are arranged in layers. The organization of the cerebral cortex can be described by its laminar organization, due to the arrangement of cortical neurons into six distinct layers.
