Lance Anthony O'Sullivan, ONZM (born 28 August 1963 in New Zealand), is a former New Zealand jockey.
He won a record 2479 races by a New Zealand jockey, mainly in the 1980s, including the 1989 Japan Cup on champion mare Horlicks,[1] which broke the world record over 2400m. He was also jockey of the unfortunate Waverley Star, finishing second to Bonecrusher, in the 1986 Cox Plate, dubbed the "Race of the Century."[2]
In the 2003 New Year Honours, O'Sullivan was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to thoroughbred racing.[3]
In 2006, O'Sullivan was part of the inaugural class inducted in the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame.[4]
