Langah (Urdu: لنگاہ) is an originally a jat tribe [1] tribe living in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Shahpur, Montgomery, and Dera Ghazi Khan districts.[2][3]

History and origin

Some Langah's claim to have been originally an Pathan tribe, who came to Multan from Sibi and laid siege to the city. Langah tribe is one of five Muslim tribes who migrated into Sub continent (Bar e Sagir. The Langah tribe established their empire in Multan in 1455. The Langah tribe captured and reigned over the city of Multan for around 100 years. This a list of the Langah kings of Multan. it's not wrong to say that langah were the kings of multan:

Distribution

In Punjab, they are settled between Indus and Chenab rivers, and those in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan occupying a solid block of villages in Shujabad tehsil.

They are settled in Mouza Langah,Mouza Mirali,Mouza Jonhi, Boher Langah Langahwali, Taunsa Sharif, Sargodha, Adrehman,Jhang, Chiniot, Rabwa Chenab Nagar, Pindadan Khan, Bhera, Mandi Bahauddin in chak daddan, koat baloch, aahla, Khuthiala Sheikhan Langah, Hafiz Abad, Dada Sheikh Mosa, Thatha Sheikha Langah, Bathii Chalk, Khouh Sheikhan Langah Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Nawabshah, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Harrappa, Badin, Sukkur, Thatta, Kot Addu, Rahim yar khan, Sayaid Pur Sadiq Abad and Kamalia. lasbela balochistan. Langah family is also settled in a village of Sahiwal district ina village named chak Mirdad Maufi. Master Saeed Ahmad Langah is the head of Langah family in this area.[4]
