Larisa Migachyov

Larisa Migachyov is a Russian-born composer and ragtime composer. She started piano lessons when she was 5 and continued with her music education learning musical theory, music composition, and related disciplines. She continued her studies after her family moved to the US, but she decided not to pursue a career in music at that time. In 2005 she discovered ragtime thanks to the San Antonio Ragtime Society, and returned to performing and composing. She premiered her first ragtime composition, the "Purple Chicken Rag", at the 2006 Scott Joplin Festival.[1]

After her bachelor of science from the University of Minnesota in 1997, she completed a master of science degree in biomechanical engineering at Stanford University in 2000. Her occupations included engineering for Silicon Valley firms and founding and running a mathematics tutoring service. She completed a law degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. In the same year she was admitted to the bar in California.[2] Until February 2011, she worked as a lawyer with the Silicon Valley branch office of law firm of Simpson Thacher.[3] She currently is in private practice as a patent attorney.[4]

In 2007 she recorded A Heap of Rags, containing 10 titles. Oh, That Ragtime Chick!, another CD, this one with 13 titles, followed in 2009.[5]
