Lauren Brown (musician)

Lauren Brown is an American percussionist, known for her skill as a "tap dancing drummer", and the invention of that specific style of percussion.

Biography

Brown first learned to dance at a young age; she knows modern, tap, jazz and ballet dance styles.[1]

Brown is best known for her work with the band, He's My Brother She's My Sister.[2][3][4]

To create her rhythm, Brown uses her feet as a replacement for the hi-hat, while simultaneously playing the snare drum, tom drum and bass drum with her arms. [5][6] The Huffington Post wrote that "Lauren Brown's bouncy moves atop a big bass drum [...] will certainly get your attention."[7]

She has performed extensively throughout the US, including famed music festivals as Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Firefly and Austin City Limits.

Brown also performed on The Craig Ferguson Show, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, in 2013.

Brown is currently a member of the group, KOLARS, which she co-founded in 2016 with fellow He's My Brother She's My Sister member, Rob Kolar.[8]

KOLARS released their music video, Beyond The World Of Man, in March of 2016.[9]
