Laurie Mansfield (born 27 March 1943) is a theatrical agent from Birmingham.[1] He is best known as a manager and agent of British comedians and currently represents Jim Davidson, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Tarbuck, Tommy Steele, Eddie Large and Freddie Starr.[2]

Early life

Laurie Mansfield started his show business career in the mid-1960s, when he joined CBS Records as a salesperson, and then in 1969 as an agent for International Artistes Ltd, an all-purpose management agency in the UK.[3]

In 2010, he left the regional pantomime company, Qdos Entertainment, to set up his own theatrical and management agency, Laurie Mansfield Associates, with his son Peter.

Theatre producer

In 1989, Laurie Mansfield was co-producer of the Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, a jukebox musical which ran for over 12 years in London's West End.[4]

In the mid 1990s, he co-produced the musical Jolson in London’s West End, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1996.[5]

He is currently co-producing Dreamboats and Petticoats with Bill Kenwright, which is touring theatres throughout the UK.[6]

Charity work

Laurie Mansfield is the current Chairman of the British Forces Foundation (founded by Jim Davidson) of which HRH The Prince Of Wales is patron.[7]

He is also the honorary Life-President of the Royal Variety Charity and assists in the annual Royal Variety Performance.[8]
