Le Tour de Yoles Rondes de Martinique

Arrivée d'étape en 2011.

"Le tour de la Martinique des Yoles Rondes" is the biggest sporting event of the year in Martinique.[1] It takes place every year between late July and early August. This is a unique sport in the Martinique world and attracts a huge crowd.[2][3] The principle is easy: eight crews travel the 110-mile eight-stage race around the island.

Organization

The fleet is composed of 21 affiliated yoles taking part in various events organized by the Society of yoles rondes. Crews are made up of associations. They rely on sponsors to help them finance their various activities. To do this, they provide communication tools such as sailing, hulling, and keeping teammates. This partnership is governed by a contract between the association and partners.

Media

The practice of yoles comes with a wide media coverage. The local press is a special situation since France-Antilles newspaper offers an additional "special turn", and the TV channel Radio France Overseas (RFO) offers broadcasts every evening during the event for "news of the race". The tour also gives several places emissions, increasing the scope and duration of the event.
