Leo Podgorski

Leo Podgorski was a boxer who was the Chicago Golden Gloves Novice Division 112 lb. Champ in 1973. In 1975 he won the Chicago Park District 126 lb. Open Division Title. Final Amateur Record 43 - 42. Podgorski died November 12, 2009.[1]

He was the older brother of Stan Podgorski, amateur and professional boxer. He was the younger brother of Pete Podgorski, also an amateur and professional boxer, as well as a professional judge and referee. Podgorski had a handful of four-round professional bouts in the mid-1980s.

Podgorski resided in Chicago, Illinois. His best amateur victories were his Golden Gloves finals win over Brian Doherty, who went on to become Alderman of Chicago's 41st Ward. Another was his toe to toe battle with Luis Aguillar in an Open division semi-finals Golden Gloves match.
