Leon Mouradoff

Léon Mouradoff was a French-Armenian sculptor and painter. He designed the Melkonian Benefactors' Mausoleum with French-Armenian architect Mardiros Altounian. It replaced an older, wooden trellis monument and was inaugurated in 1956.

Mouradoff was born in Tiflis in 1893 and grew up in Georgia and Constantinople. He moved to France in 1926 and studied under Thénissen, Bourdelle, and Despiau. He produced busts and nudes of high society figures. He traveled to the Middle East and eventually settled in Beirut where he became a painter.[1]
