Leonard D. Wexler

Leonard D. Wexler (born November 11, 1924)[1] is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was born in Brooklyn, New York.

He served with the United States Army in World War II, landing in France in August of 1944. He served with an anti tank unit and was wounded by shrapnel a few days prior to the battle of the Bulge. For his service he was awarded two bronze stars and two purple hearts. Wexler received a B.S. from Indiana University in 1947 and a J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1950. He was nominated to the court by Ronald Reagan on May 11, 1983, to a seat vacated by George C. Pratt, confirmed by the United States Senate on June 22, 1983, and received his commission on June 22, 1983. He assumed senior status on June 30, 1994.
