Lesley Regan

Lesley Regan is Professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at St Mary's Hospital, Deputy Head of Division of Surgery, Oncology, Reproductive Biology and Anaesthetics at Imperial College London, a member of the Royal Society of Medicine Steering Group on Global Health, and chairs the Advocacy subgroup of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.[1]

She was born in 1956, lives in London and is the mother of twin girls.[2]

In March 2007 she starred in the BBC's "Prof Regan's Beauty Parlour" [3]

Her pioneering research into recurrent miscarriage has led to the development of treatments that are now standard.

She was one of the first women to hold a chair in obstetrics and gynaecology in the UK, the first being Margaret Fairlie (1891-1963) who was appointed Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Dundee in 1940.[4]

She has written several books on pregnancy and miscarriage including Your Pregnancy Week by Week, and Miscarriage: What Every Woman Needs to Know.[5]
